Descendants of African Families in America, Inc. is a non-profit organization that was founded in Selma, Alabama by Marrcus and Luellehj Darshanon in April 1983.
The main purpose of the organization is to encourage and assist with family heritage and genealogical research and helping families learn how to make their family life better. We

The main purpose of the organization is to encourage and assist with family heritage and genealogical research and helping families learn how to make their family life better. We also provide seminars and classes on genealogy and family life. It is our belief that families need to be united and armed with knowledge of their ancestry and heritage in order to progress and make our world a better place to live. We truly are one human family.

DAFA, Inc. seeks to further empower families by providing educational assistance, being positive role models, helping to set tangible, attainable goals, and helping family members to develop strong communication skills that enrich and unify. Ultimately, it is DAFA, Inc.'s belief that a fortified family unit is the building block upon which better communities, better cities, and better nations are built in order to make the world a better place for humankind.
